Esther Okoronkwo has been chosen as the fans’ favourite player for Nigeria’s Super Falcons at the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).

The 27-year-old striker stood out in the tournament, scoring two goals and assisting six times in just six matches. Her brilliant play also earned her two Woman of the Match titles.

The Super Falcons shared the exciting news on their official X (formerly Twitter) account, praising Okoronkwo for her calm and clutch performances. She was described as “Crowned by the people.”

Other players who were nominated for the fans’ award included Rasheedat Ajibade, Folashade Ijamilusi, Ashleigh Plumptre, Chiwendu Ihezuo, and Jennifer Echegini.

Nigeria ended their WAFCON journey in style by beating Morocco, the host country, 3-2 in a thrilling final match.
