Super Falcons: How First Lady Nearly Abandoned My Dinner – Tinubu

The President of Nigeria, Bola Tinubu, shared a funny and touching story about how his wife, the First Lady, almost left his dinner to fully focus on the Super Falcons’ recent football match against Morocco.

The match was intense. The Super Falcons were losing 2-0 in the first half, but they made an amazing comeback to win 3-2. This exciting turnaround had Nigerians across the country on the edge of their seats.

President Tinubu hosted the victorious team at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Monday. He spoke about how emotional the match was and how the Falcons’ win brought joy and unity to Nigerians everywhere. He said their victory was not just about sports—it showed courage, determination, and discipline.

He also joked that he didn’t want to watch the match at first because he was afraid it might raise his blood pressure. But eventually, others turned on the TV, and he found himself watching and cheering. When Nigeria got a penalty and the momentum shifted, he said it felt like the whole country was energized.

Tinubu added humor to the moment by saying his wife, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, was so focused on the match that she almost abandoned preparing his dinner. “She doesn’t watch football unless the girls are playing,” he said with a smile.

The President also promised more government support for sports development, especially women’s football. He said the Super Falcons’ story is one of hope and perfectly fits into his Renewed Hope agenda.

The First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, praised the team as role models and said their determination and teamwork were truly inspiring. She told the President earlier that day that the team could even win the World Cup, a belief that captain Rasheedat Ajibade also supported.

Ajibade, speaking on behalf of the team, said the victory was not just for them but for every Nigerian girl dreaming of a better future. She said it represented the spirit of Nigeria—strong, fearless, and full of hope. She dedicated the win to the President, Nigerians, and young girls who dream of being football stars.

The captain also called on the government and private sector to keep supporting women’s football so Nigeria can grow stronger on the world stage.
