Senior Super Eagles players donate N24m as gift for the Super Falcons for winning WAFCON

Six top players from Nigeria’s Super Eagles have shown support for the Super Falcons by donating a total of N24 million. Each of the six players gave N1 million to the 24 Super Falcons squad members who won the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco.

The players behind this kind act are William Troost-Ekong, Ademola Lookman, Ola Aina, Alex Iwobi, Leon Balogun, and Joe Aribo. Their contribution was made public through a statement released by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).

NFF President, Ibrahim Gusau, praised the donation, describing it as an encouraging move for young Nigerian girls. He said this act by the players sends a strong message of hope and support to the girl-child in the country.

This donation adds to other rewards announced by the Federal Government during a celebration at Aso Rock in Abuja. These include national honours (Officer of the Order of the Niger), a new three-bedroom apartment at Renewed Hope Estate, and $100,000 in cash for each of the 24 players, as revealed by President Bola Tinubu.

Additionally, the NFF noted that the Governors’ Forum also promised N10 million to each player and their 11 coaches and officials. This is part of the many gifts showered on the Super Falcons to celebrate their big win.

The NFF also confirmed again that six Super Eagles players gave N1 million each to support the Super Falcons. This donation was highlighted as part of the growing recognition of the team’s achievement.

According to NFF President Gusau, these generous gestures mark a turning point for women’s football in Nigeria. He described the day as historic and full of promise for the future of sports among Nigerian girls.

He added that President Tinubu’s actions were unmatched and would motivate more girls to chase success through sports or other good careers.
