Marcus Morris Sr., a longtime NBA player, has been arrested in Florida over a fraud charge. The arrest took place on Sunday in Broward County, according to public jail records. A mugshot released by the authorities shows Morris with a calm, neutral expression, not smiling for the camera.
The 34-year-old forward is known for his college basketball career at the University of Kansas, where he built his reputation before joining the NBA. He was selected 14th overall in the 2011 NBA Draft by the Houston Rockets and spent his first two seasons with them. Over the years, Morris played for several teams including the Phoenix Suns, Detroit Pistons, Boston Celtics, New York Knicks, and Los Angeles Clippers.
In the 2023–2024 NBA season, Morris played for both the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Philadelphia 76ers. Throughout his professional career, he has played in 832 games, averaging 12 points and 4.4 rebounds per game.
This recent arrest is not Morris’s first legal issue. In 2012, he participated in a diversion program to resolve a battery charge. In 2015, he was involved in an assault case alongside his twin brother, but both were later acquitted by the court.
The fraud case now puts Morris back in the headlines, raising questions about his future both on and off the court. No public statement has yet been released by his legal team or representatives, and further details surrounding the arrest remain limited.
