Tinubu should fix economy, not attack opposition – Atiku

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has told President Bola Tinubu to focus on solving Nigeria’s economic and security problems instead of interfering in the affairs of opposition parties.

Atiku’s media aide, Paul Ibe, made this known in a statement after President Tinubu mocked the African Democratic Congress (ADC) during the APC National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting.

The statement claimed that Tinubu is using public funds and government offices to weaken opposition parties. According to Atiku’s team, this is part of a plan to turn Nigeria into a one-party country.

They also accused Tinubu of spending more time planning for his re-election in 2027 while ignoring the daily struggles of ordinary Nigerians, such as hunger, job loss, and inflation.

Atiku’s camp advised Tinubu to settle his own issues with Vice President Kashim Shettima and focus on fixing the economy rather than getting involved in the problems of smaller political parties like the ADC.

They added that it is wrong for the presidency to spend limited government resources trying to create confusion within opposition groups, especially when Nigerians are suffering.

The statement also claimed that Tinubu’s government tried to cause division between supporters of Atiku and Peter Obi, but the plan failed. They said the opposition has now come back stronger and more united.

Atiku ended by saying Tinubu’s government is not handling the country’s problems well and is out of touch with what ordinary people are going through.
