The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, has ordered an investigation into a viral video showing soldiers complaining about the poor food they were given during operations. In the video, the soldiers displayed the food items they received from their commanders, and it was clear they were unhappy with both the quality and the quantity.
Reacting to the situation, the Acting Director of Army Public Relations, Lieutenant Colonel Appolonia Anele, said in a statement that the Army is taking the matter seriously. She explained that although the full details of the video are still being looked into, the Army is treating it as an important issue.
She added that the Army Chief has made the welfare of soldiers a major priority and that his leadership is focused on making sure the troops are well taken care of. The Army encouraged its personnel to use the proper channels to report any problems they may have, especially those related to their well-being.
The Chief of Army Staff assured both the soldiers and the general public that he remains committed to leadership based on accountability, integrity, and the protection of troops’ rights while carrying out the Army’s responsibilities.
