Aisha Yesufu links Reuben Abati to Goodluck Jonathan’s defeat in 2015 election
Nigerian activist Aisha Yesufu has stirred political conversation online after claiming that Reuben Abati, a former aide to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, contributed significantly to Jonathan’s defeat in the 2015 presidential election.
In a post shared on her X account on Friday, Aisha alleged that Abati was one of the top figures whose actions negatively affected Jonathan’s chances of re-election. She noted that many people are only surprised by Abati’s current statements and behavior because they didn’t observe how he acted when he served under Jonathan.
Aisha expressed her opinion strongly, saying, “If you count people that led to former President Jonathan losing the 2015 election, Reuben Abati is among the first to be counted.”
She further compared Abati to Femi Adesina, another presidential media aide known for his controversial public statements. According to Aisha, those who thought Adesina was rude should have seen Reuben Abati “in action” during Jonathan’s administration.
Her comments have sparked discussions across social media, with many revisiting the role of presidential aides in influencing public perception and electoral outcomes.
