A tragic incident happened in Garin Abba village, Fika Local Government Area of Yobe State, where a woman allegedly killed her husband during a disagreement about food.
The woman, named Hadiza Mamuda and said to be 35 years old, reportedly struck her husband with a piece of wood. The blow was so severe that it led to his death.
The Yobe State Police confirmed the sad news through their spokesperson, SP Dungus Abdulkarim. He shared a statement with journalists on Wednesday, explaining that the case is being investigated.
According to the police, Hadiza will be taken to court once the investigation is completed. They assured the public that proper legal steps are being followed.
The man who died was a father of five and had two wives. The accused woman is one of his wives. His unexpected death has brought deep sorrow to his family.
Yobe State Commissioner of Police, Emmanuel Ado, used the opportunity to call for stronger community efforts to stop domestic violence. He believes more awareness and early support can help prevent such sad events.
He also encouraged religious leaders to speak out more against physical violence in marriages and to educate couples on peaceful ways to handle disagreements.
The police have promised to continue working hard to protect lives and keep communities safe across the state.
