Nigerian superstar Davido has paid a heartfelt tribute to his late son, Ifeanyi, almost three years after the painful loss.
In a post shared on his official X (formerly Twitter) page, Davido simply wrote, “Ifeanyi David Adedeji Adeleke RIP LEGEND !!” — showing how much he still cherishes his son’s memory.
Ifeanyi sadly passed away on October 31, 2022, after a drowning accident at the family’s Banana Island home in Lagos.
At the time of the incident, both Davido and his wife Chioma Rowland were reportedly not at home. The Lagos State Police confirmed that the cause of death was drowning, as revealed by an autopsy.
Following the accident, eight domestic workers were questioned. Two of them remained under investigation to help clarify how the incident happened.
Many Nigerians and global celebrities sent their condolences to Davido and his family. Among them were Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, rapper Bia, American artist Meek Mill, and footballer Victor Moses. They all expressed how heartbreaking it is to lose a child and offered prayers and support.
After Ifeanyi’s death, Davido took a break from public appearances to grieve. He later returned to the music scene in 2023 with a powerful album titled Timeless, which reflected his journey through pain and healing.
In a positive turn of events, Davido and Chioma welcomed a set of twins in the United States later that same year. The birth of their twins brought hope and joy back to the couple after going through such a tragic loss.
Davido’s tribute reminds fans that the pain of losing a loved one never fully goes away, but family, love, and time help in healing.
