Chelsea to confirm first-choice goalkeeper, take decision on Sanchez

Chelsea have decided that Robert Sanchez will be their number one goalkeeper for the upcoming 2025/26 season.

This decision comes after Sanchez gave an impressive performance in the Club World Cup, according to football journalist Rudy Galetti. His standout showing convinced the club that they no longer need to bring in a new goalkeeper this summer.

Although Sanchez was criticised for some of his performances last season under new manager Enzo Maresca, he proved himself recently by keeping a clean sheet and helping Chelsea win the Club World Cup earlier this month.

Chelsea are working hard to strengthen their team before the new Premier League season kicks off, and sticking with Sanchez is part of their plan to build a solid squad.

The 27-year-old goalkeeper joined Chelsea from Brighton in 2023. Before that, he had loan spells at lower league sides like Forest Green Rovers and Rochdale to gain experience.

With this new confirmation, Sanchez will now lead the team as the first-choice keeper going into the new season.
