Two Nigerian men shot d3ad by gunmen in South Africa

Two Nigerian men known as Austin and Ayo were killed by gunmen in Durban, South Africa.

The sad event happened on Thursday, July 9, 2025.

Reports say that around 8 p.m., three masked men entered Austin’s office.

When the gunmen entered, they saw Austin and Ayo together and shot them immediately.

A man named Fidelis, who was close to one of the victims, told The Punch over the phone on Monday, July 21, that both men died right there at the scene.

Fidelis explained that Austin owned a car business and sold tyres in Durban. Ayo had stopped by to visit him. They were chatting in the shop when suddenly the masked men came in and started shooting without saying anything.

According to Fidelis, there were a few customers in the shop, but they all ran away once they saw the gunmen with weapons.

People around the shop said they heard the gunshots and saw the attackers running away quickly afterward. The victims were rushed to the hospital but were sadly confirmed dead by doctors.

A source in Nigeria, who knew what happened, shared CCTV footage with the press.

The footage showed Austin and Ayo talking when the attackers came from behind. Austin was shot at close range, while Ayo was shot as he tried to run.

The source also said they only found out about the incident a week later. While there are rumors that the killing might be linked to a failed business deal, nothing is confirmed yet. As of now, no one has been arrested, and police say the investigation is still ongoing.
