Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, has questioned why supporters of Peter Obi are upset with him.
He made this statement while responding to those criticising his earlier remarks about the former Anambra State governor and 2027 presidential hopeful.
Okpebholo, who was elected under the All Progressives Congress (APC), recently told Obi not to enter Edo State without getting his permission. He warned that if anything happened to Obi in the state, he would be responsible.
Many people criticized the governor for this statement, calling it a threat. But Okpebholo has now said he only gave advice, not a threat, and doesn’t see the reason for the backlash.
While speaking to a crowd in Edo, he mocked those complaining about his comment. He joked that all he said was Obi should inform him before coming to the state.
The governor then laughed at his critics, asking if they were angry because he mentioned that Peter Obi always says he has no money. He reminded them that Obi himself once said, “I don’t have shishi,” so they shouldn’t be angry now.
