Former Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom, has shared his thoughts about the new political coalition formed under the African Democratic Congress (ADC). According to him, the group doesn’t have a strong future and is likely to fade away soon.
Ortom made it clear that he’s staying with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). He still considers himself a key leader of the party in Benue State and has no plans to leave or join any new coalition.
During an interview on Channels Television, Ortom said he has no regrets about his decision to work against Atiku Abubakar during the 2023 presidential election. He explained that his actions were based on his convictions at the time.
“I am not part of any coalition,” he stated. “We have nothing to do with that group.”
He added that he doesn’t see the coalition surviving for long. Even if they manage to settle the legal matters they are facing, Ortom believes they will still face a major defeat in the end.
Ortom’s remarks come at a time when several politicians are forming alliances outside of Nigeria’s two main parties, the APC and PDP. However, for Ortom, sticking with the PDP remains his choice, and he sees no reason to jump ship.
