Club World Cup: I was scared of Trump – Chelsea defender, Cucurella

Chelsea defender Marc Cucurella has revealed that he was really nervous when US President Donald Trump unexpectedly joined the team’s Club World Cup trophy celebration.

The incident happened after Chelsea beat Paris Saint-Germain 3-0 in the final. Trump had been invited to join the players for the trophy presentation.

However, things took an odd turn when Trump didn’t leave the stage. While Reece James held the trophy, Trump stayed among the players, confusing everyone around.

Speaking to Spanish journalist Gerard Romero, Cucurella said they were told not to lift the trophy until Trump left. But Trump refused to leave.

Cucurella shared that Trump told them to go ahead and lift the trophy while he stayed on the stage, which left the players unsure of what to do.

The Spanish defender admitted he was scared and didn’t know who would dare to tell the US President to step aside.

“I was scared out of my mind,” Cucurella said, describing the awkward and tense moment.
