PDP not about Atiku, we’ve moved on without him before now – Abba Moro

Moro made this clear during an interview, saying the party is bigger than one person and will continue without Atiku or anyone else who decides to leave. According to him, the strength of the PDP lies in its members as a whole.

Speaking on Channels TV’s Sunday Politics, Moro explained that he already knew Atiku was planning to leave the party. He said this move didn’t come as a surprise to many in the PDP.

Atiku officially left the PDP last week. His exit follows that of former Senate President David Mark, who earlier moved to the African Democratic Congress (ADC), a new coalition party.

Moro stressed that PDP is not built around just one or two people. He pointed out that members come and go all the time, and that’s part of political life.

He explained that those who joined the party willingly can also leave if they choose to. The important thing now, he said, is for those who remain to rebuild and move the party forward.

According to Moro, it was clear for a while that Atiku had stepped back from the PDP. He had not been attending key party activities and meetings.

Moro noted that anyone active in the party’s leadership meetings — like NEC, BoT, or the caucus — would have seen that Atiku had distanced himself from the PDP long before now.
