Veteran actress Opeyemi Aiyeola has opened up about a personal decision she made after getting married — she blocked all her Nollywood colleagues.

She revealed this while speaking in a recent interview on Oyinmomo TV.

Opeyemi, who stayed away from acting for over 10 years, said she moved to the United States after marrying her husband, Olayiwola Abdulwakilu.

According to her, the long break was to give her family all the time and attention they needed. She explained that she blocked everyone in the movie industry because she didn’t want anything to threaten her marriage.

She said, “I was off the screen for over 10 years and I want to apologise to my fans. I respected my marriage so much that I decided to cut off all communication with people in the industry.”

She added that people often judge entertainers for not having stable marriages, without knowing the full story. She didn’t want her own marriage to fall apart, so she took that step.

Now that she’s back and ready to continue acting, Opeyemi said she has unblocked her colleagues. As a mother of two boys, she said she gave up many things for her family and now it’s time to focus on her own goals again
