Former Nigerian footballer John Ogu has spoken for the first time about his late mother’s battle with cancer.
John, who played for the Super Eagles, lost his mother in 2021 but never shared much about what happened. Now, he has finally opened up about how strong his mum was during her fight with the illness.
He shared his story on Instagram after seeing a post about a woman celebrating her husband during a flight because he survived cancer three times. This touched John deeply.
Reacting to the post, John wrote, “Yeah, my late mum fought and won this twice and I lost her afterwards. This is a special day y’all.”
His message shows how proud he is of his mum’s strength, even though she is no longer alive. It’s a touching reminder of how cancer affects families and how much love and strength people show in those tough moments.
