Detectives in Kenya have caught the man they believe is responsible for the shocking deaths of two patients at Kenyatta National Hospital.
The suspect, Kennedy Kalombotole, was arrested after one of the patients, Edward Maingi Ndegwa, was found d3ad in the hospital’s Ward 7B. Edward had been admitted on July 11, 2025, and was attacked on July 17.
The police say Kalombotole is also being investigated for another patient’s d3ath. Gilbert Kinyua, aged 39, was also killed in the same hospital earlier this year.
Reports say Gilbert was last seen alive by a nurse around 11:30 a.m. on February 6, 2025. A family member who visited him around 12:30 p.m. said he looked fine and left an hour later.
Sadly, by 2:00 p.m., a hospital cleaner noticed blood near Gilbert’s neck. That discovery led to a deeper search by detectives.
The police followed bloody slipper marks leading from Gilbert’s hospital bed to a toilet and then to another room. That room belonged to Kalombotole. Inside, they found blue slippers and a blood-stained bedsheet.
Outside the building, below the hospital’s 7th-floor window, investigators also found a knife wrapped in gloves — believed to be the weapon used.
All these items were sent to the National Forensic Laboratory for detailed testing.
Investigators say Kalombotole had been admitted to the hospital since December 1, 2024. He is the main suspect in both deaths — one in February and another in July.
After Gilbert’s d3ath, detectives built a case file and gave it to the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP). However, more investigation was needed before taking the case to court.
For now, Kalombotole remains in custody while police continue their work. He will be taken to court soon.
