David Umar Gurada, who once represented Jema’a/Sanga Federal Constituency in Kaduna State, has denied claims that he misused ₦100 million meant to help people in his area.
The accusation came from the current representative, Gabriel Saleh Zock. Speaking at an event in the constituency on Thursday, Zock said that Gurada had diverted the money which was meant for public benefit.
In response, Gurada dismissed the allegation, saying that Zock was not a lawmaker at the time and therefore doesn’t understand how the National Assembly works. He said, “He has no document to support this claim. Those of us who were in the House know what happened. If he believes there was wrongdoing, he should show proof or report me to the right authorities.”
According to Zock, the ₦100 million was part of a federal government support program introduced under President Bola Tinubu to ease the hardship many Nigerians are currently facing.
Zock claimed he got the information from official House of Representatives communication and from conversations with people in the constituency.
He added that he is committed to using any support or benefits meant for the people honestly. “I believe I will answer to God one day. That’s why I will never keep what belongs to my people,” Zock said, encouraging people to ask around the community about his honesty.
Zock promised to always be transparent and to ensure that any help from the government gets to the people without favoritism or misuse.
