How landlord masterminded kidnap and m8rder of two Ondo varsity students – Police

The Ondo State Police Command has arrested a landlord and two other people for being involved in the kidnap and murder of two students from Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko. The victims were 25-year-old Abah John Friday and 19-year-old Okah Andrel Eloho. The state police commissioner, Adebowale Lawal, shared the update with reporters in Akure on Wednesday, July 16, 2025.

Okah’s dead body was discovered last week, three weeks after the two students were abducted. Her body was found at a location near the Ondo and Ekiti border. Police are still trying to recover the body of Abah, who they believe was thrown into a river by one of the suspects who is yet to be caught.

The police revealed that Abah’s landlord, Oladele Femi, admitted to planning the whole thing and also helped hide the fact that the students were killed.

According to the police commissioner, while the students were being held by the kidnappers, the sum of N800,000 was taken from Abah’s bank account. Also, during the time they were held, the female student was raped.

The victims were killed after Okah recognized one of the kidnappers. To stop her from exposing their identities, the kidnappers decided to kill both her and her friend.

The case started when a petition was filed on June 24, 2025, by a lawyer representing Mr. Emmanuel Peter, who lives in Shagari Village, Akure. He reported that his younger brother, Abah John Friday, and his friend, Okah Andrel Eloho, who were both students of AAUA, had gone missing since June 20, 2025.

Right after receiving the complaint, the police anti-kidnapping team started their investigation. They followed a phone trail which led them to Computer Village in Ikeja, Lagos. There, they found an iPhone 14 Pro Max that belonged to one of the victims. The phone was with a 38-year-old man named Abdul Mohammed Mubarak.

Mubarak told the police that he bought the phone from a man named Ojo Michael. Police later arrested Michael in Aramoko-Ekiti and recovered a Lexus RX 350 that belonged to the victims.

During questioning, Ojo Michael admitted that he took part in the robbery, kidnap, and killing of the two students. He also said that it was the landlord, Oladele Femi, who arranged everything and brought him and another man called Kola (who has not yet been caught) into the plan. The police also found out that N800,000 was transferred from Abah’s bank account during the period they were missing.

Michael also confessed that he raped Okah. He said they killed both students after she recognized him and revealed his identity. They later dumped the bodies in different locations between Agbado and Ode-Ekiti.

The police arrested Femi, the landlord, and he admitted to starting the plan and helping hide what happened after the killings.

Thanks to his confession, the police were able to find the body of the female student in a bush near Ode-Ekiti. Her body has been taken to a hospital morgue for an autopsy.

The police are still working hard to find the remains of the male student, Abah, who they believe was thrown into a river by one of the suspects still on the run.

Commissioner Lawal said the case is a sad reminder of how dangerous and heartbreaking pre-planned crimes can be. He described the victims as young and full of potential, but their lives were cruelly taken due to betrayal and greed. He promised that the police would continue working to arrest the remaining suspect, recover Abah’s body, and ensure that everyone involved faces justice.
