BREAKING: Dele Momodu resigns from PDP, joins ADC

Veteran Nigerian journalist and politician, Chief Dele Momodu, has left the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). He said the reason for his exit is that the party has been taken over by people who are against democracy.

In a letter dated July 17, 2025, and sent to the PDP Ward 4 Chairman in Ihievbe, Owan East LGA of Edo State, Momodu said he was leaving the party with immediate effect.

In his words, “My reason is clear and direct.” He said that the PDP is now fully in the hands of people who do not support democratic values, both from within the party and outside of it.

Momodu explained that since the party had fallen into the wrong hands, it was better for him and others to leave and join a new political group. He revealed that he would now align himself with the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

Dele Momodu, who once contested for president under the PDP and is also known for publishing Ovation International magazine, thanked local PDP leaders in his area for their past support.

His move to ADC is seen as an important political change in Edo State and may help shape political alliances as the 2027 general elections approach.

Momodu first joined the PDP in 2021 and was very active in national politics during his time in the party. His resignation follows other key politicians who have recently left the PDP due to internal issues within the party.
