May Edochie’s lawyer withdraws from divorce case, cites harassment by fans

May Edochie’s legal battle with her estranged husband, Yul Edochie, has taken a new twist. Her lawyer, Emeka Ugwuonye, has stepped down from handling her divorce case.

In a statement shared on Facebook by his law firm, Due Process Advocate (DPA), Ugwuonye said he could no longer continue because of constant online harassment from May’s supporters, popularly known as “May Nation.”

According to him, the law firm originally joined the case to help May get justice after her marriage broke down. However, the continued attacks from her own fans made it difficult for them to keep working on her behalf.

Ugwuonye explained that the toxic behavior from some of May’s followers made it impossible to continue representing her effectively. He also said his staff were being abused daily, and surprisingly, the abuse from May’s fans was worse than what they got from Yul Edochie’s supporters.

He added that even though Yul and his alleged second wife, Judy, were the main cause of May’s troubles, her fans’ online actions worsened the entire situation.

Despite stepping down, Ugwuonye praised May for being a strong woman who suffered betrayal and a forced polygamous relationship. He promised to help her new legal team take over the case smoothly.

In part of the statement, the law firm said:
“DPA’s services to Queen May have come to an end. The hostile environment created by some members of the ‘May Nation’ made it hard for us to continue representing her properly.”

Ugwuonye noted that May has not been able to control the toxic part of her fanbase, which is not in line with the kind of dedication the case requires.

Finally, he assured that DPA would cooperate with May’s new lawyers and share all necessary information with them so the case can move forward without problems.
