Buhari: Tinubu fighting ghosts, failing Nigerians – Atiku’s aide, Phrank Shaibu

Phrank Shaibu, who serves as the media aide to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, has asked President Tinubu to remove his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga. This follows a controversial post Onanuga made about late former President Muhammadu Buhari

Shaibu said Tinubu’s government is now so weak that it’s attacking the dead, instead of focusing on solving real issues Nigerians are facing.

He made this statement in response to a video posted by Onanuga on X (formerly Twitter), where Onanuga showed a large crowd to challenge claims that Buhari’s 13 million votes were key to his 2015 and 2019 victories. The post was later taken down.

Onanuga had posted the video at the same time plans were being made for Buhari’s burial in Daura, Katsina State, causing outrage.

Shaibu insisted that Onanuga wouldn’t have shared the post without Tinubu’s approval. He believes the post was part of a planned attack from the top.

He wrote that the Tinubu administration has become a joke—fighting with the memory of a dead man because it can’t face the living. He said the presidency is running away from accountability.

Shaibu asked, “If Buhari’s legacy is so unimportant, why is Tinubu’s camp still worried about his influence and 12 million votes?”

He criticized the Tinubu team for using Buhari’s name to cover up their own failures. He added that Nigeria is suffering from hunger and hardship, not because of Buhari, but due to Tinubu’s poor leadership.

He said this isn’t how a government should behave. Instead of fixing the country, the Tinubu administration is busy attacking Buhari’s memory to cover up their own collapse.

Shaibu accused the presidency of failing to stop inflation, fix electricity, stabilize the naira, or pay salaries. Yet, they still have time to fight with someone who has already died.

He said that by attacking Buhari’s legacy, Tinubu’s government has lost the support of the living and is now picking fights with the dead.

Shaibu ended by challenging Tinubu to prove he did not approve the post. If he didn’t, he should sack Onanuga. Otherwise, it would be clear the attack was approved by the President himself.
