Activist Detoun shares video of herself and her daughter talking about late former President Buhari

Nigerian activist Detoun Onajobi has found herself at the center of online criticism after she posted a video featuring her young daughter making harsh remarks about the late President Muhammadu Buhari.

Detoun, who has long been a vocal critic of Buhari, didn’t hide her happiness after the former president died on Sunday, July 13.

During Buhari’s funeral, Detoun uploaded a video where she and her little daughter discussed the former president. In the clip, the child said, “He is not a good man! He made my mummy suffer.”

In response, Detoun said Buhari would not rest in peace. Her daughter, surprised, asked, “Eh! Why wouldn’t he rest?” Detoun explained that it was because he made them suffer.

The girl then asked if he also made her daddy and mummy suffer, and Detoun said yes. When Detoun asked her daughter what she would like to say to Buhari, the child replied, “God should not bless him.”

The video has sparked a heated debate online. Many Nigerians believe Detoun went too far by involving a young child in such a serious and emotional issue. Critics say it’s inappropriate to use a child to express political or personal frustrations, especially about someone who just passed away.

While some people agree with Detoun’s opinions about Buhari’s leadership, they argue that the message could have been delivered without bringing a child into the conversation.

The video continues to circulate online, with mixed reactions from the public about parenting, politics, and respect for the dead
