2027: Forget Northern Votes – Reno Tackle Obi’s Absence At Buhari’s Burial

Reno Omokri, who once worked as an aide to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, and a popular Northern youth known as Sarki on social media, have strongly criticized Labour Party’s Peter Obi for missing the burial of former President Muhammadu Buhari in Daura, Katsina.

Both Omokri and Sarki shared their disappointment on X (formerly Twitter) on Tuesday after the funeral took place.

President Buhari was buried with full honours on Tuesday. Big political figures like President Bola Tinubu, ex-vice presidents Atiku Abubakar and Yemi Osinbajo, and other top leaders attended the ceremony.

However, Peter Obi was clearly missing from the burial event, raising eyebrows.

Reno Omokri reacted by questioning why Obi didn’t attend. He said this shows Obi’s attitude toward Northern Nigeria.

Omokri went further to call Obi a fake leader who only pretends to care about national unity.

He said, “President Tinubu was present from start to finish, showing his respect for Buhari and the North. Arewa should take note of who didn’t show up!”

He also reminded people of an earlier incident when Obi called ex-president Gowon “an enemy to forgive” during his 90th birthday, and recently criticized the trial of Nnamdi Kanu. Omokri said this is the same Nnamdi Kanu who made hurtful remarks about the North and spread lies about Buhari.

Omokri warned Northerners to be careful, suggesting Obi doesn’t truly care about them. He added, “In 2027, Nigeria needs a real national leader, not someone who’s loyal to just one region.”

Sarki also commented that Obi’s absence could cost him Northern support in the 2027 elections.

He wrote, “Obi didn’t attend Buhari’s burial, yet he wants the North to vote for him. Let’s see how he plans to win without our support.”

It’s worth noting that both Omokri and Sarki have openly criticized Obi in the past.

Meanwhile, activist lawyer Maduabuchi Idam raised another concern, questioning why President Tinubu declared a public holiday on Tuesday just to honour Buhari.
