Nigerian social media activist Vincent Otse Martins, also known as Verydarkman, has made bold statements about President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration shortly after the passing of former President Muhammadu Buhari.
In a video shared on his Instagram page, Verydarkman said that many Nigerians wished it was Tinubu who had died instead of Buhari. He expressed how widespread the disappointment is with the current government.
He compared the leadership styles of Buhari and Tinubu, saying that even though Buhari’s time in office was tough, life under Tinubu has been even harder for everyday Nigerians.
Verydarkman criticized several of Tinubu’s policies, especially the removal of the fuel subsidy, which he believes has not helped citizens in any way.
He mentioned that Tinubu’s presidency is seen negatively by many Nigerians. He said that when a celebrity is seen with the president, they are quickly insulted by the public.
He also talked about the rising cost of living, saying that fuel and food prices have become too expensive for ordinary people.
The activist suggested that those who continue to support Tinubu may be doing so for money or because of tribal and religious reasons.
Verydarkman said, “President Tinubu, if you check the internet, you’ll see that many Nigerians wished you died instead of Buhari. And to be honest, if you died, people might treat your corpse worse than Buhari’s.”
He added, “People insult celebrities just for taking pictures with you. You said removing the fuel subsidy would help the country, yet you’re still borrowing money. We never thought a country like Nigeria that produces oil would sell fuel at such high prices.”
He also mentioned that the promise to increase minimum wage hasn’t helped much, as many workers are still not being paid properly. He questioned the state of insecurity in the country, saying that those who support the government are likely doing so because of financial interests, tribalism, or religious bias.
