The family of Nigeria’s late former president, Muhammadu Buhari, was filled with deep sorrow as his body arrived in Katsina from the United Kingdom on Saturday, July 13.
Former First Lady, Aisha Buhari, and their daughter, Zahra Buhari Indimi, were among those present when the plane carrying Buhari’s remains landed.
As the casket was being taken out of the aircraft, Aisha, Zahra, and other close relatives couldn’t hold back their emotions. They cried as they watched the coffin being carefully removed and placed for onward movement to his final resting place.
The atmosphere at the airport was heavy with sadness. Friends, family members, and top government officials gathered to receive the former president’s body and to pay their last respects.
Muhammadu Buhari, who ruled Nigeria as a military head of state in the 1980s and later as a civilian president from 2015 to 2023, will be buried in his hometown Daura according to Islamic rites.
Today marks the final goodbye to a man who once led Nigeria and remained a central figure in the country’s politics for decades.
