Chelsea has been given a big honour after defeating Paris Saint-Germain 3-0 to win the Club World Cup. The team will now wear a special gold badge on their shirts for the next four years.
Young star Cole Palmer helped lead the victory with two early goals in the first half. He then assisted Joao Pedro, who scored the third goal with a beautiful chip over PSG goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma.
Along with winning the trophy and receiving £100 million in prize money, Chelsea also earned a unique reward—a badge of honour. This badge is different from the ones given in the past.
Before now, the winning team could only wear the gold badge for one year. But FIFA, led by President Gianni Infantino, changed the rules. The Club World Cup is now a four-year tournament, so the badge will last for the full period.
Back in 2019, Liverpool won the same competition but were only allowed to wear the badge for one match, due to Premier League rules. Chelsea won’t face that problem, because those rules have now been updated.
