Former France international, Gael Clichy, has named Ousmane Dembele as his top pick to win the 2025 Ballon d’Or. He believes the PSG forward deserves the prize more than any other player this year.
While speaking on RMC Sport, Clichy said Dembele is clearly the best option. According to him, Dembele has been outstanding and deserves the award without any doubt.
Clichy pointed out that the Ballon d’Or usually goes to players who make big contributions on the field, just like Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi did over the years. He explained that individual stats are very important in winning the award.
He also mentioned that Dembele has produced amazing numbers this season. Clichy was impressed by how sharp and active Dembele looked during games, both with and without the ball.
Even though Dembele hasn’t scored 90 goals in a year like some past winners, Clichy still believes he should win the award. He praised Dembele for his all-round ability on the pitch.
Clichy added that both he and Thierry Henry agree Dembele is the most complete player right now. Dembele can score, assist, disturb opponents’ defense, and help his team defensively through pressing.
Despite PSG losing 3-0 to Chelsea in the Club World Cup final at MetLife Stadium, Dembele still had a remarkable season. He finished the campaign with 35 goals and 16 assists in 52 matches across all competitions.
