Veteran Nollywood actor Yemi Solade has publicly apologized to his fellow actor, Afeez Owo, for slapping him during a movie shoot over 20 years ago.
Speaking during an interview on Behind the Fame African A-List, Yemi looked back on the incident that took place just outside Ibadan while they were filming a movie. At that time, Afeez was working as the production manager on the set.
Yemi explained that after they finished filming for the day, the town experienced a power outage. He felt that Afeez wasn’t taking his complaints seriously, which led to some tension between them. In the heat of the moment and in the dark, Yemi slapped Afeez without even thinking about it.
The actor admitted that what he did was wrong and said he deeply regrets his actions.
Looking straight at the camera, he said during the interview: “Afeez, I’m sorry. Please don’t be angry with me.”
Yemi also mentioned that even though the incident happened nearly two decades ago, it has stayed on his mind. He said he’s talked about it before with others, but now he felt it was right to say sorry directly to Afeez.
He ended by saying he doesn’t like being insulted, which might be his weakness, but that doesn’t excuse what he did.
