A very sad incident happened in Gurugram, India, on Thursday, July 10, 2025. Radhika Yadav, a 25-year-old tennis player, was shot and killed by her own father. She was not only a state-level athlete but also ran her own tennis academy.
The shooting happened around 10 a.m. at their home in Sushant Lok Phase 2. Her father, Deepak Yadav, is said to have fired five shots at her. Three of them hit her, and she died from the injuries.
According to the police, the father was angry with Radhika because she spent a lot of time making Instagram reels. He thought it was distracting and brought shame to the family. This disagreement is believed to be the reason behind the attack.
The police got involved after receiving a report that a woman had been brought dead to a hospital with gunshot wounds. When officers went to the house, they found clear signs that confirmed the daughter had been shot by her father.
Deepak Yadav was arrested right away. During questioning, he admitted to the crime. It was his own brother who went to the police and filed the official report.
Radhika was seen as a rising tennis star in India. She worked hard at her sport and also helped train others at her tennis academy. Some sources said she was ranked 113th in the ITF doubles category, though this hasn’t been officially confirmed.
