Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernandez has raised concerns about the hot weather in the United States, where the FIFA Club World Cup is currently happening. He said the heat is too much and could be dangerous for everyone involved.
Fernandez pointed out the weather problem after Chelsea’s 2-0 victory over Fluminense in the semifinals. He said playing in such heat is very hard and unsafe.
While speaking at a press conference on Friday before the final, the Argentine star said, “The heat is unbelievable.” He shared that he felt dizzy during the match and had to lie down because of how bad it was.
Fernandez warned that playing in such hot weather isn’t only risky for players but also for fans watching at the stadium. He said the heat slows the match down and affects how the teams perform.
Due to the intense heat, FIFA decided to include short cooling breaks in the middle of each half so players can rest and hydrate.
Right now, temperatures in some parts of the US have reached as high as 95°F (about 35°C).
Chelsea will face Paris Saint-Germain in the final of the FIFA Club World Cup on Sunday.
