Bandits kill seven people, injure others in Zamfara

Suspected bandits have attacked a commercial vehicle in Zamfara State, killing seven people and injuring several others. The victims were traveling along the Tsafe-Funtua road when the tragic incident happened.

According to reports, the attack took place around 7pm on Thursday. This was just before the road was due to be closed for the day — a new safety measure introduced by the Zamfara State Government to reduce frequent attacks on road users.

A source said the attackers were riding motorcycles and suddenly crossed the road. They saw an oncoming bus and immediately started shooting at it.

He added that the bandits didn’t wait or ask questions. As soon as they noticed the bus, they opened fire straight away.

The bus was reportedly carrying women and children. Sadly, seven people, including some of the children, were shot and killed on the spot.

The source also mentioned that passengers from two other vehicles were kidnapped by the bandits during the attack.

When contacted, the spokesperson for the Zamfara State Police Command, DSP Yazid Abubakar, was unreachable for comments about the incident.
