Garba Shehu, the former Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity to ex-President Muhammadu Buhari, has vowed never to work with former Vice President Atiku Abubakar again.

Shehu stated that he remains loyal to Buhari even though the former president is no longer in power.

Speaking during an interview on TVC News’ Beyond The Headlines on Thursday, Shehu said, “If a person has integrity—and I’m not saying I’m perfect, but people can judge—I believe one should serve only one leader at a time. If you try to serve two leaders, you are only fooling yourself or them.”

He explained that his commitment to Buhari comes from the trust the former president placed in him. “When I speak for Buhari now, it’s out of loyalty and respect for a leader who trusted me completely. Otherwise, I would have walked away like others and started something new.”

Shehu added that although Buhari is no longer politically active, he is proud to still stand by him. He also pointed out that any public statements they issue on Buhari’s behalf are rare and carefully considered to avoid giving the impression that Buhari is competing for relevance.

“The only president Nigeria has now is Bola Tinubu, and Buhari will not contest that space,” Shehu said firmly.
