We are forced to sleep with 20 men daily, even during our monthly period – Trafficked victim rescued from Katsina hotel says

A young woman who was rescued from a hotel in Katsina has shared her painful experience. She said she and other girls were tricked into coming to Katsina with the promise of good-paying jobs. However, when they arrived, they were forced into prostitution instead.

The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) arrested three people during a raid on the hotel. These suspects are believed to be part of a human trafficking group that brings young girls from different parts of Nigeria to the North to use them for sex work.

During the operation, NAPTIP rescued three young women who were being used for prostitution in the hotel. One of the victims explained that a woman had promised them jobs but didn’t give details until they reached Katsina. Once there, the woman forced them into prostitution.

The victim revealed that they were made to sleep with at least 20 men each day, and all the money they earned was collected by a woman named Amarachi, who was in charge. They were not allowed to rest, even if they were on their period or feeling sick. The traffickers didn’t care about their health or well-being.

She added that every evening, they were each given a can of Fearless energy drink to keep them awake and give them the strength to sleep with many men. Despite all the money they made, they had to feed themselves because the traffickers took everything.

The girls thanked NAPTIP for rescuing them. They said that apart from taking their money, the traffickers also paid men to watch them and stop them from escaping.

NAPTIP said the hotel manager and two workers were arrested during the raid. The agency believes the suspects are part of a larger group that supplies girls to brothels and may also be involved in trafficking girls to other countries.

The three rescued victims are between the ages of 21 and 26. Two are from Benue State and one is from Rivers State.
