The Plateau State Police Command will today, July 10, take 22 people to court. These suspects were arrested for being involved in a mob attack that happened in Mangun village, located in Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State, on June 21, 2025.
The sad event happened when 31 wedding guests were traveling from Basawa, a community in Zaria, Kaduna State. They were on their way to Qua’an Pan LGA in Plateau State when they were suddenly attacked by a mob in Mangun village.
According to reports, the group had lost their way and stopped in Mangun to ask for directions. Unfortunately, instead of getting help, they were attacked. The violence led to the deaths of 13 people, including women and children.
In an official statement, the spokesperson for the Plateau State Police, DSP Alfred Alabo, said the 22 suspects will be arraigned at the State High Court. He confirmed that the suspects are being charged in connection with the deadly mob action.
This case has raised concerns about safety and justice, especially when innocent travelers become victims of violence. The court appearance today will be a key step in seeking justice for the lives that were lost.
