The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has reacted to the Supreme Court’s decision confirming Monday Okpebholo as the rightful winner of the Edo State governorship election held in September 2024.

Wike asked Governor Okpebholo to remain focused and take the court victory as a reminder to serve the people of Edo State with dedication and selflessness.

Through a statement from his Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media, Lere Olayinka, Wike described the Supreme Court ruling as the final proof that the people of Edo truly gave their mandate to Okpebholo.

He added that the victory belongs to the people of Edo, who voted for the governor, and it should lead to even more commitment in serving them well.

Wike congratulated Governor Okpebholo and encouraged him to continue working hard for the development and progress of Edo State.

He also appealed to the PDP candidate, Asue Ighodalo, to put politics aside and support Governor Okpebholo in building a better Edo. Since the court has made the final judgment, Wike said all those who contested against the governor should now work together with him for the good of the state.
