I was blacklisted by marketers – Moji Afolayan speaks on disappearance from screen

Veteran Nollywood actress Moji Afolayan has finally shared the reason behind her long break from acting. She explained that she was away from the screen for more than ten years.

Her sudden disappearance left many fans and social media users wondering about her whereabouts and health.

In a recent interview with Oyinmomo TV, Moji revealed that some film marketers decided not to work with her after she turned down their sexual advances.

She explained that, in the past, marketers used to give money to producers for making films. However, because she refused to sleep with them, they came together and agreed not to offer her any roles.

Moji said she never gave in to their requests because she doesn’t believe in using her body to get roles. She added that it is her principle, and even though she missed out on fame and money, she values her dignity more.

She also spoke about how some married actresses gave in to these marketers, sometimes with their husbands waiting outside while they went in to meet them. She claimed that many of these women became stars through those connections.

Moji said she is proud that she didn’t follow that path. Though she lost many opportunities, she still feels happy for holding onto her values.

She ended by saying that things have changed today. Thanks to YouTube and social media, she can now release her movies without relying on marketers.

The 57-year-old actress is married to fellow actor Ojopagogo.
