Foam factory destroyed by fire in Oyo town

A foam factory in Oyo town, Oyo State, was badly damaged by fire. The incident happened at Global Crystal Foam Nigeria Limited, which is located in the Oko-Oba area along Akinmorin Road in Oyo.

The fire started on Tuesday and affected the warehouse part of the company. It caused damage to some of the factory’s equipment and other valuable items.

The Chairman of the Oyo State Fire Service, Maroof Akinwande, confirmed the incident in a statement released on Wednesday. He said the fire was reported at exactly 10:39 pm on Tuesday, July 8, 2025.

Firefighters, led by CFM Yisau Lateef, were quickly sent to the location. When they arrived, they saw that the warehouse was already on fire. They immediately started fighting the fire using fire control chemicals.

Thanks to their fast response, the fire was kept from spreading to other parts of the factory. The firefighters were able to stop the flames where they started and successfully put out the fire.

The fire service said the fire likely began because of too much heat from a large number of foam mattresses stored in the warehouse. Only a small area of the warehouse was affected. The quick work of the fire service helped save property worth millions of naira.
