The Northern Ethnic Youth Group Assembly (NEYGA) has called on suspended Kogi Central senator, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, to obey the recent court ruling and pay the fine placed on her by the Federal High Court in Abuja.
This statement followed a court judgment that found Natasha guilty of contempt for disobeying a previous order by the court.
Justice Binta Nyako ruled that Natasha mocked the court’s earlier decision by issuing a sarcastic apology to Senate President Godswill Akpabio, which she posted publicly.
Because of that, the judge fined Natasha N5 million, saying her action disrespected the court’s gag order.
A few months back, Natasha accused Senate President Akpabio of sexually harassing her after a disagreement on the Senate floor over the rearrangement of seats.
As a result, the Senate suspended Natasha for six months, and Akpabio later took legal action against her.
In a statement, NEYGA’s spokesperson, Ibrahim Dan-Musa, asked Natasha to follow the judgment and stop creating drama, saying the Senate had the right to discipline its members.
Dan-Musa added that the court made the situation clear and that Natasha should stop pretending to be a victim. He said she should pay the fine, say sorry, and stop dragging Kogi Central into controversy.
He also accused Natasha of using public emotions to her advantage while ignoring the court’s decision.
Finally, he said the matter was not about her personal pride but about respecting institutions. He advised that if she truly cares for her people, she should let go of her ego and do the right thing.
