During his ongoing s£x trafficking case, music star Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs had a funny moment with the artist drawing him in court.
The 55-year-old music mogul was shown in several court sketches looking tense, especially when the jury gave their decision on four out of five charges.
When the jury announced that he was not guilty of racketeering conspiracy — the most serious charge — Diddy collapsed in relief. However, he was found guilty of two other charges involving the transportation of individuals for pr0stitution.
Some of the courtroom sketches, made by well-known artist Jane Rosenberg, gave the public a rare view of Diddy’s emotions during the case.
But Diddy wasn’t happy with how Rosenberg drew him. During a break, he made a light-hearted complaint to her.
Rosenberg told PEOPLE magazine that Diddy returned to the courtroom, pointed at his mouth, and mouthed some words at her. At first, she didn’t understand, but then he repeated it clearly: he wanted to be drawn “softer.”
He then jokingly said, “You made me look like a koala bear,” according to Rosenberg.
She didn’t take the comment badly. Later that day, while riding the elevator with Diddy’s mother and sons, they all laughed when she told them about the koala bear comment.
Rosenberg admitted that drawing Diddy wasn’t easy. It took her time to figure out how to sketch him properly.
She said he has a unique face, especially his jawline, and he doesn’t look the same as he did years ago.
Rosenberg also explained that drawing celebrities during their trials is always challenging because people already have an image of how they’re supposed to look.
Even the celebrities themselves sometimes have opinions about the drawings. She said Giuliani once told her she made him look like a dog, Weinstein wanted more hair, John Gotti asked her to make his chin smaller, and even Donald Trump said one of her sketches made him look too heavy.
Jane Rosenberg, who has been sketching courtrooms for 45 years, recently released a memoir titled Drawn Testimony: My Four Decades as a Courtroom Sketch Artist.
