Nigerian actor, Yul Edochie, has called on President Bola Tinubu to bring back the cashless policy that was once introduced by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).
Yul made this request through a message he posted on social media. He believes that the cashless policy, which allowed people to use less physical money and rely more on digital payments, was good for the country.
He shared that during the last administration, when the policy was active, it made the naira stronger and led to a drop in the cost of goods and services.
The actor also mentioned that bringing back the policy now could help reduce the number of kidnappings in the country. He said criminals will find it harder to collect ransom if there is less physical cash in circulation.
Yul Edochie believes this is one step the government can take to make Nigeria safer and improve the economy at the same time.
