Bayelsa, Rivers, Plateau and Kano governors will soon join our party. We are also expecting Abia or Enugu Governors – APC vice chairman

The national vice-chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the South-East, Ijeomah Arodiogbu, has said that some state governors are getting ready to join the ruling party.

In a recent interview, Arodiogbu revealed that the governors of Bayelsa, Rivers, Plateau, and Kano states are preparing to officially join the APC in the next two months. He said this move is not based on rumours but is expected to happen very soon.

He added that the governors of Abia and Enugu states might also join APC. Arodiogbu said the party is open to welcoming them. He also hinted that the Osun State governor, Ademola Adeleke, may have shown interest, but nothing is confirmed yet.

Arodiogbu dismissed the plans by opposition parties to come together before the 2027 general election. He said such alliances are just for show and not based on any real political strength. According to him, most Nigerians are supporting APC because of what the party is doing.

He also cleared the air on rumours about a deal between the presidency and Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State. Arodiogbu explained that President Bola Tinubu has not endorsed Soludo for the upcoming 2025 governorship election. Instead, the president has told party members to support APC candidate Nicholas Ukachukwu.

He claimed that Governor Soludo is no longer well-liked in Anambra State. He accused him of constantly clashing with traditional rulers, church leaders, and market groups. According to Arodiogbu, Soludo is now trying to make peace with the same people he once disagreed with.

Recently, two governors from the PDP — Delta State’s Sheriff Oborevwori and Akwa Ibom’s Umo Eno — joined APC. This trend has led to public debate on whether Nigeria might be turning into a one-party state, raising concerns about the future of political competition in the country.
