Arsenal are in talks to sign Nigerian forward Ademola Lookman from Italian club Atalanta this summer. The Super Eagles star is nearing the end of his contract in Serie A, and a move looks likely before the new season begins.
Lookman is expected to leave after having issues with Atalanta’s former manager, Gian Piero Gasperini. His situation at the club has made it easier for other teams to approach him.
According to AFTV, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta is interested in adding the talented winger to his squad. Arteta wants to bring in more attacking options ahead of the new season, and Lookman is one of the players being considered.
Atalanta, on the other hand, are already preparing for Lookman’s possible exit. The club has reached a deal to sign Kamaldeen Sulemana from Southampton as a replacement. Sulemana is expected to cost around €21.5 million (£18.3 million) in total, with an initial fee of €17.5 million (£15 million).
Sulemana usually plays on the left wing and is likely to take a similar role when he joins Atalanta.
If the deal goes through, Lookman’s move to Arsenal could be one of the surprising transfers of the summer, giving the Premier League side a new boost in attack.
