The Nigerian naira dropped in value again at the official foreign exchange market, closing the week with a downward trend.
According to new data from the Central Bank of Nigeria, the naira traded at ₦1,539.24 to the US dollar on Friday. This shows it lost ₦3.12 from Thursday’s rate of ₦1,536.08.
This loss came right after the naira had gained ₦13.18 against the dollar just the day before, on Thursday.
Over at the black market, however, the naira gained a bit. It traded at ₦1,570 to the dollar, compared to ₦1,580 the previous day.
Looking at the full week, the naira still performed better overall. It gained ₦8.12 at the official rate and ₦30 at the black market compared to the rates from Friday, June 20, 2025, which were ₦1,547.36 and ₦1,600 respectively.
