Former Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has warned new signing Florian Wirtz to be ready for the pressure that comes with joining a top team like Liverpool.

Wirtz is moving from Bayer Leverkusen to Liverpool for £116 million. This transfer makes the 22-year-old the most expensive British player ever.

Klopp believes this huge price tag will put a lot of eyes on Wirtz. If he doesn’t perform well in a few matches, people might start criticising him.

Even though Klopp expressed his concern, he also praised Wirtz. He called him an “outstanding player” and said Wirtz is likely aware of the expectations that come with such a big move.

Speaking to Welt, Klopp said the transfer fee is incredibly high and that Liverpool players are judged quickly, especially if things go wrong in two or three games.

He also mentioned that Wirtz has the quality to add something special to any team he joins.

However, Klopp ended by saying that only time will tell if Wirtz can make the Premier League champions even stronger.
