Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has shared his thoughts ahead of their Club World Cup Round of 16 game against Benfica. He believes both teams are evenly matched and it will be a close contest.
Chelsea is set to play Portuguese side Benfica on Saturday night as part of the Club World Cup tournament. Both teams earned their spots in the last-16 stage after winning their final group matches. Chelsea defeated ES Tunis, while Benfica surprised many by beating Bayern Munich.
During a press conference before the match, Maresca praised Benfica, calling them a strong and respected team in European football. He said that, not just in this tournament, Benfica has always proven they are a top club.
He added that at this level, with the competition so fierce, there’s usually little difference between the teams. That’s why he expects a very competitive and balanced game.
Maresca concluded by saying he is confident it will be a tough game for both sides, and fans should be ready for an intense match.
The match is scheduled to kick off at 9 PM Nigerian time.
