We can qualify for 2026 World Cup –Super Eagles goalkeeper Nwabali

Super Eagles goalkeeper, Stanley Nwabali, is hopeful that Nigeria will qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, even though the team is not in a strong position right now in their qualifying group.

The Nigerian national team, which has won the Africa Cup of Nations three times, is currently sitting in fourth place in their group. This makes the road to the World Cup very tough, as only one team from the group can qualify.

With the competition being very tight and every point mattering, Nigeria’s team—led by coach Eric Chelle—must win their remaining matches to keep their World Cup dreams alive.

Speaking to Brila FM, Nwabali, who plays for Chippa United, admitted that the team has had its challenges. However, he still believes they have what it takes to bounce back and qualify.

“It is football. Just because we are Nigeria doesn’t mean we’re guaranteed to win every game,” Nwabali said. “You can see we still have a lot of chances to qualify, despite where we are on the table.”

He added that the team is focused on taking each game as it comes.

We’re going to push in our next game, take it one game at a time, and we’ll see how our next four games go,” he concluded.

Nigeria missed out on the 2022 World Cup, so the team and its fans are hoping for a strong finish this time to make it to the next tournament.
