No Nigerian hip-hop song more impactful than my song – Odumodublvck boasts

Nigerian rapper Odumodublvck, whose real name is Tochukwu Ojogwu, has responded to people who criticize his rap style. He said those critics are not being honest but are actually jealous of his success and how far he has come in the music industry.

He said his 2023 hit song Declan Rice is the most culturally important Nigerian hip-hop song ever released. According to him, no other Nigerian rap song has had the kind of global attention and impact that Declan Rice has received.

Odumodublvck also mentioned that Arsenal Football Club used his song to announce the signing of footballer Declan Rice from West Ham in July 2023. He claimed that the video using his song became Arsenal’s most popular post on social media, calling it the club’s biggest digital content.

During an interview on The Beat 99.9 FM in Lagos, he shared that many young rappers who try to rap like him give up because of negative comments. He referred to a song he did with Larry G called Good Devil Wells White, saying his verse in that song was top-quality.

He explained that he has performed in different languages including English, Nigerian local dialects, and even Patois. Despite this, some people still try to put him down, and he believes it’s because they feel threatened by his originality and influence. He challenged anyone to show a Nigerian rap line with more cultural weight than the one he delivered in the song Cast. He also believes that no Nigerian hip-hop song in the past 20 years has had the kind of global reach and recognition that Declan Rice has achieved.

Odumodublvck ended by questioning how critics measure success in the music industry. He said calling him “not a rapper” is unfair and simply wrong. He described such criticism as being ungrateful and even said that God would judge those who keep making such claims about him.
