Gov Ododo orders crackdown on criminals in Kogi West after murder of retired army major

Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo has promised strong action against criminals in Kabba-Bunu and across Kogi West after the shocking murder of retired army officer, Major Joe Ajayi.

During a condolence visit to the officer’s family in Odo-Ape community, the governor expressed sadness over the loss. He described Major Ajayi as a loyal patriot who served Nigeria with honour and dedication.

Governor Ododo told the family that the state cannot afford to sit back and let criminals take over. He said Major Ajayi’s memory must be respected by fighting to make Kogi safe again.

He assured the people that his government is ready to chase down the criminals and bring back peace to the area. He reminded the community of the improvements made during his earlier visits and promised to do more.

The governor said his administration will use every tool available to restore security in Kogi West and ensure that those behind the killing are brought to justice.

He also warned that Kogi State will no longer accept people pretending to be investors but turning out to be criminals. He urged traditional rulers to be very careful before giving land to strangers, stressing the need to know their true intentions.

Governor Ododo made it clear that anyone helping criminals—whether individuals or groups—will be punished by law.

While in Odo-Ape, he also visited a security outpost to strengthen the area’s surveillance and improve emergency response.

The late officer’s brother, Titus Ajayi, spoke on behalf of the family and thanked the governor for the visit. He said the governor’s presence gave them hope and confidence that justice would be served.

As crime continues to rise in parts of Kogi, many residents have been calling on the government to act fast. Governor Ododo’s visit and tough stance show that the state is ready to defend its people and bring back peace.
